Our team share much in common. We are not only committed to developing our professional expertise and the HR profession itself, we are also active in our communities in a variety of leadership roles. We are also a diverse group, with a wide range of cultural backgrounds and languages spoken. Together we share a love of learning and a desire to challenge. We hold a firm belief that improving the quality of work in organisations can have a positive impact on the quality of our lives and that of society as a whole.

Director

John SunderlandJohn Sunderland is a former HR Director for a national refugee agency. He set up in business after freelancing for a number of years with a range of not for profit organisations. With a career history in local government, John first specialised in recruitment and workforce statistics, after which he developed expertise in pay strategies and systems. He has since gained considerable experience in the management of employee relations and equality and diversity issues including challenging bullying and harassment at work. John has taken a lead on workforce planning and workforce development projects, as well as managing the development of a people management website for the social care sector.

John completed a Masters in Manpower Studies at Westminster University and is an active member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. He is also a fellow of the RSA and a governor of a leading Further Education College.

HR Consultants

Anna completed an MSc in Organisational Behaviour and is active within the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. As a trustee of the charity New Ways to Work, she was a representative on a cross charity working party organised by the Carers National Association and represented the charity Parents at Work at the All Party Parliamentary Group on Parenting. Anna contributes regular book reviews and articles to the magazine “People Management”.

Barbara Lond is an occupational psychologist and HR generalist who can assist with selection or development processes. She is fully trained to BPS standards in the selection, administration and interpretation of a range of psychological assessments. Barbara has worked in a range of private and voluntary organisations and is a trustee of TLC Care Services (Hackney).

Barbara holds an Msc in Organisational Behaviour, and is completing her Doctorate in Occupational Psychology. She is also a member of the British Psychological Society, the Coaching Association and a founder member of the Association of Business Psychologists.

Pauline Moignard has considerable expertise and experience of HR management within the social care sector and has been working on workforce planning and organisational change projects. She has worked as a senior practitioner in a range of local authorities and as a consultant has focussed on improving their recruitment and retention strategies.

Pauline holds an MSc in Human Resources and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD. She a panel member for Community Care magazine’s `Care for your Career’ advisory column. She is also a NCVO-CIPD volunteer HR advisor.

Project Support and Administration

Rogelio Alsina is responsible for supporting all aspects of our project work and maintaining the administrative infrastructure.

Duncan Drury supports our IT infrastructure and communications, and manages our website presence. His website can be found here.

Emilyn Key provides financial management support and accounting services.

Professional Associates

We also work with Associates who bring specialist management and non-HR expertise to individual projects.

Tahera Aanchawan is a management consultant with experience in health and social care organisations, and has extensive community links.

She is a founder member and trustee of the Afiya Trust - a charity established to advocate for better health and social care provision for black and minority ethnic communities in the UK, a non-executive board member of the Health Development Agency, trustee of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, vice-chair of the Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa, chair of Naz Project London, a sexual health project for black and minority ethnic and migrant communities and chair of Transform Africa, a capacity building project for community groups in seven African countries.

Debbie Aslett is a training and development manager within the social care sector who has experience of managing and delivering a range of development programmes including acting as an assessor and practice learning teacher for students on the Social Work degree course. She is also a qualified nurse.

Richard Freeman has worked as a web developer designer and manager in the public and private sector, including an array of local authorities. He originally trained as a teacher before moving into developing multi-media and online products. His website has details of the products he offers. Richard has recently worked on a people management website for the social care sector.

Elly Hargreave is a campaigner and social entrepreneur with experience of setting up and managing a successful national charity. As a consultant she has held a number of senior management roles in a range of voluntary sector organisations in the field of health, housing and refugees. She has not only developed and implemented fundraising strategies, her campaigning work has involved radio and TV exposure, as well as considerable press work. Elly is a trustee and founder member of Student Action for Refugees (STAR).

Frank Roper has worked in the social care field for many years both in a frontline and policy/commissioning role. He has experience of both quality assurance and best value reviews in local authorities and the voluntary sector. He also practices as a web developer and ICT consultant for the voluntary sector.

Frank has recently worked on developing the content of a Human Resources website produced by Switched On Consulting for managers in the social care sector.
